Gianluca Masi
Thirty-five years old, he graduate in Astrophysics at the
University of Rome "La Sapienza" and hearned a PhD in Astronomy at the University
of Rome "Tor
Vergata". Expert in CCD astronomy, particularly in photometry and
astrometry, his current scientific interests include minor bodies in the solar
system (mainly near-Earth Objects), cataclysmic variables and the cosmological
distance ladder. He contributes to many international astronomical
magazines.He spent several months in Chile, at the European Southern Observatory
(ESO), investigating near-Earth Asteroids and comets. He is the owner of the
Virtual Telescope Project, making a number of telescopes available to anyone
over the Internet. Because of his activities, he was awarded with several prizes
and the asteroid (21795) was named "Masi"
after him.
